A Bit About Me
I grew up in Central, LA, and attended Central HS where I played baseball and football. I graduated from Louisiana State University in 1987. Upon graduation, I moved to Dallas where I began my golf career as a player. I qualified for 3 TX State Am's in a 4 year period and in 1996 turned professional and played in TX Tour and Hogan Tour Events for another 3 years. My Instructor in TX was Doug Higgins, Jr., of Texas golf fame. In 2020, I qualified as a PGA Professional and am pursuing that path as I am able. Ive been involved with BREC Golf as an employee and as a volunteer at Santa Maria Golf Course where I assisted PGA Pro Jack Terry in Golf Development. I'm currently creating a non profit to help foster kids find joy in the game.
Lesson Packages
Private Lessons
I provide private lessons for Indivuals and/or groups. I also have Memberships available for those interested in a committment to learning this great game and the student will see a cost savings for Memberships as opposed to indivual lessons purchsed one at a time. There are several different Membership packages available to individuals.
Group Lessons
Group Lessons are a great choice to improve your athletic performance. Through a strategic mix of theoretical lessons and practical sessions, class participants become comfortable with the game both on and off the field. Group lessons can provide a fun atmosphere among friends, family or collegues. If you’re looking to elevate your game through a few or a half dozen, Group Lessons with Rex Cochran Golf are for you.

As as player (and father of 2 boys), I know golf can be a difficult game to learn. With excellent communication skills, patience and a keen eye for cause and effect in a golf swing, I can provide an assessment and make recommendations for improvement based on the individuals skill level. While no 2 golf swings are exactly alike, there are fundamentals that all good golfers possess. The modern swing minimizes moving parts in the swing. This will decrease errors made while executing the swing. Ive taught many players the Modern golf swing, including myself, and performance has certainly improved.
